Frankfurt Airport

Manufacture and Supply of 676 LED Taxiway Guidance Signs

The introduction of LED’s as a light source for Taxiway Guidance signs is still a comparatively new application for the technology, however this hasn’t deterred many of the world’s leading airports. Frankfurt Airport (FRA) is one of the world’s most important international airports; it ranks among the world’s top ten airports, is the biggest cargo airport in Europe and also serves as a hub for German flag carrier Lufthansa.

The LED signs utilise the same, proven design as its tungsten halogen counterparts, and are manufactured from corrosive resistant aluminium extrusions. The extrusions are interlocked with each other creating a sealed unit which then has cross members and side panels secured, giving the compartment its strength. The new LED signs meet all necessary requirements stated by ICAO and CAP168.

The signs will be supplied in 12 separate batches over a 9 month period so that delivery can be taken in line with installation works carried out at the airport.
