ATG Airports is pleased to announce it has been awarded a turnkey contract to deliver a comprehensive airfield ground lighting (AGL) solution at London Biggin Hill Airport. This significant infrastructure project is a key component of the airport’s wider runway resurfacing program, designed to enhance operational safety, improve airfield efficiency, and support the airport’s long-term performance goals.
As a recognised and trusted provider of AGL systems across the UK and internationally, ATG Airports will manage the full scope of AGL works. This includes the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of all lighting and associated systems. Our turnkey delivery model provides the airport with a streamlined, fully managed solution, offering a single point of contact and full accountability throughout the project lifecycle. This approach ensures high standards of quality, consistency, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
A core element of the new AGL system will be the installation of high-performance runway centreline lighting, utilising the FX850A LED inset fixtures. These cutting-edge LED fittings are known for their durability, reduced power consumption, and long service life. These fixtures offer low maintenance costs, provide excellent visibility under all operating conditions, including low-visibility procedures (LVP), night operations, and inclement weather. Their specification aligns with ICAO recommendations and supports the airport’s goal of achieving enhanced reliability and operational readiness.
In addition to runway centreline lighting, the project will include other critical AGL elements such as runway edge lighting, stop bars, and control system updates. ATG Airports’ experienced engineering and project management teams will work closely with the airport to ensure the works are delivered to the highest standards, with a strong focus on safety, program deadlines, and minimising disruption to ongoing airfield operations.
