Reliable Termination for Airfield Communication Networks
The CEG-72 series terminator plugs are essential components in the deployment of Smart Repeater systems, Smart Daisy Chains, and CEG-72 connector kits. Designed to deliver robust and interference-resistant data communication, these terminators ensure a reliable Smart Data Link cable infrastructure.
Available in two variants—Type 2 and Type 3—the terminators are used at both the beginning and end of each copper cable segment. Their primary role is to provide impedance-balanced terminations, helping to reduce signal reflection and ensure optimal performance. Additionally, they offer effective noise screening to earth, enhancing signal integrity even in electrically noisy airfield environments.
Each CEG-72 terminator is supplied as a fully encapsulated unit, ensuring excellent dielectric strength and water resistance—critical for long-term durability in airfield applications. A 1-metre earth connection cable is factory-fitted to each terminator, colour-coded to indicate its type:
- Type 2 Terminator: Features a solid earth connection with a Green/Yellow earth cable.
- Type 3 Terminator: Includes internal lightning protection and is supplied with a Pink or Red earth cable.
Selection of the appropriate terminator type is determined by the airfield’s earthing quality and the length of each communication segment, and should be considered during the system’s infrastructure design phase.
