The communications cable is engineered specifically for use within the Individual Lighting Control and Monitoring System (ILCMS) provided by atg airports. It is designed to interface seamlessly with SmartSwitches, SmartMonitors, and SmartRepeaters, forming a robust and reliable network within the airfield ground lighting (AGL) environment.
The cable features a high-grade outer insulation rated at 5kV, allowing it to be installed alongside standard 5kV AGL primary cables without risk of interference or degradation. Its construction includes a tinned copper braided shield capable of carrying up to 6.6A, with a resistance of less than 14 ohms per kilometre. This ensures excellent electromagnetic shielding and reliable signal transmission over long distances. The internal twisted pair conductors are precision-manufactured to provide a characteristic impedance of 180 ohms, with inter-core capacitance of less than 50 picofarads and a core resistance below 40 ohms, supporting high-speed, low-loss data communication.
Installation is typically carried out within pit and duct systems, allowing the communications cable to run parallel to the AGL circuit infrastructure. Its rugged polyurethane outer jacket is highly resistant to salt water, aircraft fuel, and de-icing agents, making it suitable for installation in demanding airfield environments, including apron areas, taxiways, and runways. The cable’s durability and insulation rating make it ideal for joint housing within pits, where SmartSwitches or repeaters may also be installed to maintain optimal system performance and network integrity.
This dedicated design ensures reliable and interference-free operation of the ILCMS system, contributing to enhanced airfield safety, efficient maintenance, and effective monitoring of lighting systems.
